Ship Construction Rules.
Here are the rules for poeple creating ships for sailing the seas. Ships cost 10 Gold Pieces per a Ton. You don't actually have to have that much... it'll just put it in the negatives until you get yourself out. Pirates shouldn't have a hard time with that.
Masts:
The more masts you have the faster she will sail. Larger ships move faster only while moving with the wind.
Weight:
One: 3 Tons
Two: 6 Tons
Three: 9 Tons
Four: 12 Tons
Five: 15 Tons
Crew and Cargo Space:
The Bigger the ship, the more weight is manditory for the crew, supplies and hauling space.
Weight:
200 ft: 20 Tons
250 ft: 25 Tons
300 ft: 30 Tons
350 ft: 35 Tons
Length:
The Longer the ship, the more masts are required to propell it. These are just the minimum required for each length, feel free to put more on it.

200 ft: 100 Tons
250 ft: 125 Tons
300 ft: 150 Tons
350 ft: 175 Tons
Mast Requirements:
200 ft: 1 Mast
250 ft: 2 Masts
300 ft: 3 masts
350 ft: 4 masts
Cannons:
Cannons are the ship's offensive capability.
Weight:
Cannons Weigh 2 Tons each
The Ship's Length determines it's maximum firepower. The Chart below shows the maximum number of cannons per length and where thhey can be placed.

300 ft: 40
350 ft: 45
Max Weight:
A ship's length determines it's maximum weight.
